ITINERARY:

Day 2  Catania walking tour, shared tour / 2 hours

Breakfast at hotel.
Explore Catania downtown on a walking tour through the city’s most beautiful squares, such as Piazza Stesicoro and Piazza Vincenzo Bellini, and streets as Via Crociferi, Via Etnea and Via Antonino di San Giuliano. Wonder the Roman Amphitheater, Vincenzo Bellini’s theatre and get a taste of local life at the Fish Market.

Day 3   “Etna and Taormina”  – Full-Day shared tour / 10 hours

Breakfast at hotel.
After being picked up from your accommodation you will reach Rifugio Sapienza by car and stop in some panoramic points on the way up. The guide will tell you everything about the history of the volcano and the territory around. You will have the chance to visit the sites of the last important activities and the famous Silvestri Craters.
The next stop on the way down will be an organic farm for a sampling of typical products. After the tasting, you will head for Taormina, but first you will make a short stop to an overlook to admire “Isola Bella” from above, a Wildlife Reserve considered the “pearl of the Ionian sea” for its natural beauty, and connected to the mainland by a thin strip of sand.
After lunch (not included in the price) you will dedicate the afternoon to visiting the picturesque town of  Taormina.
Along the main road of this town, Corso Umberto, with the Messina Gate below and the  Catania Gate on the mountain side, you will admire the most important monuments: Palazzo Corvaja (The Corvaja Palace) , the Teatro Antico* (The Old Theatre), Piazza IX Aprile, the Torre dell’orologio (The Clock Tower), the Cattedrale Fortezza (The Fortress Cathedral), the Badia Vecchia (The Old Abbey), and the Palazzo Duchi di Santo Stefano (The Duke of Saint Stephen Palace), and much more. It will also be possible to go shopping in the exclusive shops which alternate with workshops.

Day 4    “Syracuse, Ortigia and Noto walking tour from Catania”- Full-Day shared tour / 9 hours

Breakfast at hotel.
The excursion will begin with the visit to the Archaeological park of Neapolis* (from Greek “new city”) that hosts the majority of classical monuments of Greek and Roman Syracuse.
It’s the most representative area of the ancient Greek city, with large green spaces from where, walking through an old Roman street, you can get to many important archaeological monuments: the Greek theatre used for classical performances, the Roman amphitheatre, the Latomie with the Ear of Dyonisius and Cordary’s cave, the Ara of Ierone and The Church of San Nicolò ai Cordari.You will then continue by visiting the Ortygia Island, the heart of Syracuse, and among Greek temples, Christian churches, Arabian Streets, important old palaces, you will visit The Arethusa Fountain and the Duomo square, surrounded by some beautiful baroque palaces
After lunch (not included in the price), you will head for Noto, a unique town for its Sicilian Baroque style, which was declared to be a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. The town of Noto is a true “open air museum”, where it will be possible to enjoy the walk along the main street, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, and admire the many palaces and churches that are together known as the “stone garden”.
