ITINERARY:
Day 1 / Bucharest – Sinaia
Arrival at Bucharest airport and transfer to Sinaia mountain resort, the ”Pearl of the Carpathians”, visit of the Peles Castle, former residence of Romania’s Kings. Built by King Carol I of Romania (born Prince Karl of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen dynasty), as his summer residence, Peles Castle shelters an huge collection of works of art, rare furnitures, weapons collections, valuable books, and over 2.000 paintings in its 160 rooms. The architects have used an abundance of wooden decorations, outside and inside the castle, combined with stone, bricks and marble, providing a special feeling.
Built like a fairy tale castle, in German Renaissance style and surrounded by the majestic Carpathian mountains, the Peles Castle reveals its beauty on the outside, as well as on the inside. The Peles Castle is surrounded by seven terraces decorated with statues, intricate stone-made wells, ornamental vases and Carara marble.
The Peles Castle’s architecture profiled against the snow-capped mountain peaks is a stunning and breathtaking view; one of the finest castles one can ever see.
Dinner and accommodation in Brasov.
Day 2 / Sinaia – Bran – Brasov
En route to Bran, visiting the famous Bran Castle, considered to be Prince Vlad Dracul’s residence. In Bram Stoker’s famous vampire novel, “Dracula” the Bran Castle is described as Count Dracula’s residence, Stoker’s real inspiration being Vlad the Impaler, son of Vlad Dracul, the Walachian Prince.
Bran Castle was also Queen Mary of Romania’s residence, a place close to her heart; in the proximity of the castle there is an altar carved in the wall of a mountain in which the Queens’ heart once was deposited.
In the afternoon, arrival in Brasov and brief city tour with the visit of the City Council Square, the Black Church (Brasov’s landmark, over 500 years old, the largest Gothic church in South-East Europe, hosts an impressive 4,000 pipe organ built in 1839), Ecaterina’s Gate, a fairy-looking medieval tower, part of the last preserved original city gates. Dinner and accommodation in Brasov/Poiana Brasov (mountain resort)

Free time in the morning to explore Brasov
Lunch and wine tasting (sparkling wines produced using the traditional method) in the “Rhein Azuga” wine cellars, the former supplier of the Romanian Royal Court.
Continue to Bucharest.
Known in the past as “The Little Paris”, Bucharest has suffered a decline in the communist period, followed by a “revival in its own way”, in the past 20 years.
Nowadays the city displays an interesting mix of old and new: modern steel-and-glass buildings mixed with ancient monuments with long and rich history; palaces and museums scattered in the Old Town, sophisticated cafes and restaurants providing unique feelings along with grey marks from the communist era, altogether representing the reborn charm of Romania’s modern and interesting capital, with its cultivated sensibility.
Short city tour of Bucharest, with the visit of the Old Town (attractions in the Lipscani/Historical Centre: Manuc’s Inn, the ruins of the Old Court, former Vlad Dracul’s Palace), Victoriei Boulevard with the Romanian Atheneum – the capital cultural landmark, the Royal Palace, the Cantacuzino Palace, Kretzulescu church, Stavropoleos church.
